Sirius The Rocks Penthouse

Positioned above Sydney’s historic The Rocks precinct and commanding one of the city’s most iconic views, Sirius is more than a building—it is a landmark returned to life. Originally conceived in the late 1970s by architect Tao Gofers for the NSW Government Architect’s Office, Sirius stands as a rare Australian example of Brutalist architecture. Saved from demolition by JDH Capital and thoughtfully reimagined in collaboration with BVN and Richard Crookes Constructions, the Sirius redevelopment honours its architectural origins while elevating the building into a contemporary standard of luxury and longevity.

At the heart of this transformation is a clear ethos: retention over replacement, integrity over spectacle. This ambitious adaptive reuse project reflects a broader movement in sustainable urban design—one that prizes character, craftsmanship, and connection to place. Rather than erasing the past, Sirius has been respectfully restored, enhanced with carefully resolved interventions that harmonise bold geometry with material warmth.

Titan is proud to have played a part in this chapter of renewal, supplying premium stainless steel fixtures throughout all 74 apartments, including the centrepiece penthouse—a residence that redefines inner-city luxury.

At the pinnacle of Sirius, the penthouse residence embodies the building’s transformation in full expression. Spanning 430 square metres across four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with two living zones, a private entry, and panoramic views across Sydney Harbour, it is an address of rare scale and refinement.

Interiors by renowned designer Kelly Hoppen elevate the space through a globally informed lens, merging bespoke detailing with timeless luxury. From hand-selected marble surfaces and European oak floors to custom stucco walls and tailored joinery, every decision reflects a commitment to quality and craft.

Titan’s stainless steel collection was integrated seamlessly into this elevated environment, selected not only for their aesthetic alignment with the home’s material palette but for their technical performance in high-use spaces. In the custom kitchen, stainless steel delivers a sleek counterpoint to natural stone; in bathrooms, it offers longevity and ease of maintenance while reinforcing the penthouse’s deliberate, high-functioning design.

The Sirius building’s sculptural silhouette, cast in raw concrete, remains unmistakable on the Sydney skyline. BVN’s architectural approach sought not to soften this expression, but to celebrate and evolve it. Copper-clad balcony pods now project from the original form—lightweight and precisely engineered extensions that draw on Sirius’ original modularity while introducing new dimensions of light and liveability.

Inside, the interiors echo the same philosophy: contemporary, restrained, and enduring. BVN’s design language is deliberate—championing spatial clarity, material tactility, and architectural continuity. Natural timbers, refined marbles, and muted metal accents layer warmth into the structural solidity of the building, offering calm, high-performance living environments for modern life.

Throughout the building—across its private residences, communal facilities, and activated laneways—Sirius exemplifies the value of integrated design thinking. BVN’s role extended beyond architecture to encompass much of the interiors, ensuring continuity from structure to surface. Meanwhile, the inclusion of retail spaces, SOHOs, landscaped terraces and a newly created through-site link reinforces the building’s civic intent: to reconnect with The Rocks, not just visually, but experientially.

Titan’s role for the entire development was grounded in this same design philosophy. Our stainless steel fittings were not isolated products, but components selected to serve the life of each space—supporting the building’s renewed focus on longevity, sustainability, and quiet luxury.
